Lynx summer camp programs are fun-filled, outdoor-based programs where campers have the opportunity to experience a wide range of adventures while making new friends and learning technical outdoor skills. Join us for whitewater rafting, rock climbing, canoeing, camping, hiking, mountaineering, and more. Our camps are lead by professional guides who offer our campers the chance to experience Vermont’s greatest adventures. All the food, group equipment, and technical gear is provided. Campers will only need to provide personal equipment.  

Explore Central and Northern Vermont while experiencing a wealth of adventures. This camp does everything: canoeing, rock climbing, white water rafting, basic mountaineering, and natural history education. The days will be spent covering topics such as: Leave No Trace Principles, efficient canoe strokes, how to tandem canoe, effective techniques for rock climbing, knot tying, belaying, and building anchors using natural and artificial protection points. Nights will be spent learning outdoor living and camping skills such as: choosing a proper site, setting up a campsite, outdoor cooking, and ways to limit our recreational impacts. We will also cover natural history topics such as stream dynamics, geomorphology, plant identification, landscape interpretation, and more.

There & Back Again -  Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Rafting, Mountaineering & Hiking
August 6th- August 12th (A 7 day, 6 night overnight camp for ages 13-18)
$1,300 ($1,250 for second child)

Itinerary 

  • Day 1, Sunday: Meet at The Jay Country Store in Jay, Vermont at 9:00am. Check-in and trip preparation while getting to know each other. The afternoon will be spent team building and learning basic outdoor and navigation skills with a hike up Mount Norris in Lowel, Vermont.

  • Day 2, Monday: Whitewater rafting on the Hudson River- camp that night near Lake George, New York

  • Day 3, Tuesday: Adventure hike and basic mountaineering at White Rocks National Recreation Area in Wallingford, Vermont, and camp on Lake Bomoseen in Castleton, Vermont

  • Day 4, Wednesday: Rock climbing at Deer Leap in Killington, Vermont and move camp to Zach Woods campground in Hyde Park, Vermont

  • Day 5, Thursday: Canoeing on the beautiful Green River Reservoir in Hyde Park, Vermont

  • Day 6, Friday: Day two of paddling on the Green River Reservoir and rappelling at local cliffs

  • Day 7, Saturday: Head back to The Jay Country Store to wrap up the week and pick-up is at 9:30am

Rock Climbing Level I - Rock Climbing and Rappelling
July 9th - July 15th (A 7 day, 6 night overnight camp for ages 13-18)
$1,000 ($950 for second child)

During this camp, our campers will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Vermont’s Green Mountains from the side of rock cliffs. Campers will learn proper rock climbing techniques, as well as the fundamentals of setting up climbing sites. They will learn how to belay and how to build climbing anchors using both natural and artificial features. Appropriate for beginners, this is also a great camp for any ability climber looking to sharpen their skills and better enjoy rock climbing. Campers will also enjoy down-time swimming, slack-lining, working on balance skills, as well as relaxing tired muscles and developing new friendships. All of our camps also include a component where participants learn about the natural environment, their relationship with it; and the best ways to minimize impacts on the environments we use.

Itinerary

  • Day 1, Sunday: Meet at The Jay Country Store in Jay, Vermont at 9:00am for check-in and trip preparation, including games to get to know eachother. Then we will head to Will-O-Wood Campground in Brownington, Vermont for an afternoon of team-building activities, and learning basic climbing and camping skills.

  • Day 2, Monday: Rock climbing at Wheeler Mountain and camping at Will-O-Wood Campground.

  • Day 3, Tuesday: Rock climbing at Wheeler Mountain and camping at Will-O-Wood Campground.

  • Day 4, Wednesday: Rock climbing at Bolton Valley and camping at Will-O-Wood Campground.

  • Day 5, Thursday: Rock climbing at Bolton Valley and camping at Will-O-Wood Campground.

  • Day 6, Friday: Rock climbing at Prospect Rock in Johnson, Vermont and camping at Brewster River Campground in Cambridge, Vermont

  • Day 7, Saturday: Return to The Jay Country Store for pick up at 9:30am

Itinerary 

  • Day 1, Sunday: meet at The Jay Country Store in Jay, Vermont at 9:00am. Check-in and morning trip preparation while getting to know each other. The afternoon will be spent at Brewster River Campground in Cambridge, Vermont working on team building and learning basic outdoor and navigation skills. We wil spend the week camping at Brewster River Campground. 

  • Day 2, Monday: Hike to the top of Mount Mansfield 

  • Day 3, Tuesday: Rock climbing at Prospect Rock in Johnson, Vermont

  • Day 4, Wednesday:  Bushwhacking, map and compass navigation, and rappelling adventure in Smuggler's Notch

  • Day 5, Thursday: Rock climbing at Bolton Valley in Bolton, Vermont

  • Day 6, Friday: Rappelling and canyoneering in moutain rivers around Smuggler's Notch

  • Day 7, Saturday: Meet back at the Jay Country Store in Jay, Vermont for a 9:30am pick-up

Camper will have the pleasure of exploring the northern peaks of Vermont’s Green Mountains. In and around Smuggler's Notch and Mt. Mansfield, we will hike, rock-climb, rappel down cascading waterfalls, and also learn to explore using map and compass. Participants will also learn and practice camping skills, from how to set up a tent to the ways we can limit our impacts as recreationists in a natural environment.
